Finding My Fashion Style

Along with many other things I've been pondering while traveling, I've really been trying to assess my fashion style. What else am I to do during the kids naps, but write about what I like, dislike, color preferences, styles that work with my figure, etc...here is what I have discovered...

Dislikes (for me):
*black- it makes me feel gloomy
*skirts- make me feel frumpy
*cropped and boxy jackets- make me look really large on top
*tight on me- inappropriate
*suits- my preppy days were short lived :)
*shorts- too uncomfortable

Likes (for me):
*Casual fabrics- make me feel relaxed
*Knits- homemade need I say more
*Soft colors- make me feel confident and comfortable
*Denim- old faithful and casual
*Feminine- pearls, ruffles, florals but in a simple design
*Hoodies- loungey and comfortable
*Wood- natural
*Leather- boots, purses, and belts are items that will last
*Soft toned florals- remind me of a prairie summer
*Modernized shift dress- casual and with a belt

My Style is Prairie Cowgirl Shabby Chic. Now when I did a search for this in google, obviously nothing prevailed. So now I'm on a quest to described my style.

I found this dress on Etsy and just love it! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27766592&ref=sr_gallery_21&&ga_search_query=prairie+clothes&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=13&order=date_desc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

I've even sketched a few outfits that I am hoping to pull from my wardrobe. When shopping, I used to just find a bargain, now I think through and really make an assessment, if an item works for me.

Let me encourage you to find your fashion style...it's easy to get stuck in a rut or just buy a bargain or buy a trend...but buy what makes you feel like yourself. Afterall, fashion is an expression of art, fashion is an expression of who you are, so allow others to see the real you!
