Julie & Julia

I read the book: DELIGHTFUL!

I saw the movie: DELIGHTFUL!

Every once in awhile I read a book out of my normal picks. I started reading Julie & Julia before Christmas and was so excited that I made a good choice. The story moved along at a pace that was not boring, in fact, I think the pace was superb! I often only read a chapter here and a chapter there because I found myself in the kitchen cooking things like Potato and Leek soup. (Which by the way is simple, creamy, outstanding, and worthy of trying!) And reading it over the course of a few weeks is also out of my norm. Typically, I read a book in a few days. It's like I was savoring each chapter, each phase of Julie's life because she was at a point in her life where she needed meaning, that what she was doing was more than a routine. I've felt like that in the past and could totally relate; however, I found God was stirring me to bigger things. Julie found Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I prefer my choice!

Now onto the book; I didn't think I'd enjoy it. Afterall, books turned into movies usually leave much to be desired. I didn't want to be a frustrated reader who continually made comments about all the great parts of the book that the movie left out. Mind you, that is a true statement. There were parts of the book not written into the movie. BUT the difference is that the movie delivered on it's own. Amy Adams---good! But Meryl Streep---outstanding! It was fun to watch the mannerisms known my Julia Child delivered in a great performance by Meryl Streep.

I hope you are inspired to read something different...hey maybe even try Julie & Julia!
