Homeschool: Bible & Science

This is the base of our curriculum this year!  I'm so excited to start this!

Bible: "My Father's World First Grade is complete first grade curriculum with a phonics-based reading program that foces on the Bible.  The integrated lessons also include language arts, social studies, science, math, art, and Bible!" (as written on  MFW website!)

Biblical Character Building: We Choose Virtues has been in our house for about 3 months and is helping keep the focus on the top three house rules.
1. Obey
2. Be Kind
3. Be A Helper
This curriculum has 12 main character traits that all link back to obedience, kindness, and helping.  They are content, patient, self-controlled, obedient, perseverant, kind, gentle, diligent, helpful, honest, forgiving, and attentive.  Each trait has a Bible verse, positive statement, and negative statement that is written in a way the kids can relate! The kids have responded well by getting to know the characters like Cake Jake, Penny Jenny, and Airplane Betty Jane.

Bible Devotions: This will be part of every morning using the following resources.
1. Leading Little Ones to God
2. Child Training Bible
3. Peel & Stick Bible stories, this is a great easy tool used for comprehension.  Usually the kids retell me the Bible story!
4. Godly Heroes of the Past

Science: Included in MFW are the following Usborne books Finding Out About Things Outdoors, Science with Water, and Science with Plants.  Maizie has been curious about the how our bodies work, so I am considering adding God's Design for Life The Human Body and My Body from Teacher Created Resources.
