Handmade Holiday

This year I made and gave many handmade gifts, and the ironic thing is I did NOT take any pictures. I'm hoping that the recipients take photos and email them to me. Then maybe I'll blog about them further~hint, hint!

Cut-Outs

Our family made cookies the Sunday before Christmas and also right before we left for Michigan and Ohio. In my kitchen, I only brought a teapot, flower, and pumpkin cookie cutter from our Michigan condo. We did find a snowman and a star at Winner's (Canadian version of Marshalls/TJ Maxx) and Holiday sprinkles which Maizie picked out.

1st Annual Murdock Gingerbread House

We have been reflecting on Christmas traditions and we concluded we only have two. The first is traveling to visit family and the second is making cutout cookies. This year we tried adding a few, like attending tree lighting ceremonies, venturing to large department stores to see window displays, and building a Gingerbread House. This is our first attempt and we had so much fun doing this together and licking our fingers covered in frosting!

Yorkville Tree Lighting

We wandered over two blocks to the Yorkville Tree Lighting ceremony. Whole Foods was the major sponsor for the event and they provided hot apple cider and gingerbread cookies dipped in white or milk chocolate! Yummo! We watched a dancing play however, Maizie told us she didn't like "that Santa," we agreed he looked and sounded creepy. After about 30 minutes, we decided to come back later to see the lights. But we did have fun!
