Five Things Blog Along- Mother

I apologize for my delayed entry about this...James and I had a lovely weekend getaway in California for a friends wedding! But I'm back!

1. Quality Time- I do my mothering best when I get random moments with each child alone each day. I try to arrange Jackson's morning nap, so that Maizie and I enjoy crafts, playing dollhouse, or just being together cuddling on the couch. With Jackson it is different, but I usually spend time with him on my lap after bottle feedings, diaper changes, and cuddle time right before nap and beds. I have struggled with feeling pulled to care of each of them, but doing this allows me to bond with each of them.

2. Nuby Bottles with Handles- I have Pink & Yellow for Maizie and Blue & Green for Jackson. This sounds silly but coloring coating allows me to look at a cup and not question if it has milk or formula! :)

3. BabyHawk & Chicco stroller- This combo allows me to plan for anything! If Jackson needs to fall asleep or a cuddle...I "hawk him". If Maizie needs a break and wants to ride, I "hawk J" and she relaxes! Seriously, please check out the BabyHawk...it really is the best solution for long-term, various weights, and lumbar support carrier!

4. Meal Planning- I try to plan breakfast, lunches, and dinners ahead. Though I feel our schedule has been so crazy lately, I've struggled with this this past month.
Example Menu for Breakfast:
Monday- Muffins & Plain or Vanilla Yogurt
Tuesday- Eggs, Toast, Turkey Bacon
Wednesday- Waffles
Thursday- Oatmeal with a couple toppings (almonds, raisins, cranberries, apricots)
Friday- Eggs, Toast, Turkey Bacon
Saturday- free day which is usually Pancakes made by James & Maizie

5. Time To Myself- I didn't realize how much I needed this until we moved to Canada and I lost the life I knew and built. I didn't realize that I spent quality time with my husband during church. I didn't realize that I needed my random Mommy meetups with my other Mommy friends. I didn't realize how much I socialized at MOPS. I am slowly working on creating this time for myself, but I admit the desire to start a new life has been hard, when I miss all that is familiar back home.

I truly agree with #5! It is so important to get out and have some time to yourself. With working all day, and coming home to house full of kids (my 2 plus the neighborhood kids), I often feel as though I don't get enough me-time! Thankfully, I was able to get a mani yesterday, and only $12!

I also love the one-on-one bonding time with each kid. Although I don't get much of this, Lily and I's random shopping trips or movie watching is so important for us! With Hudson, it is much different. Quality time to him is me watching him jump a ramp with his bike or playing a card game.
